An American Manicure

French manicures are very popular and give an elegant and classy look. In French manicures pale pink and nude colors are used to enhance the look of your nails. This versatile look suits any outfit you wear or any occasion. It gives you both a casual as well as a formal look. You must try an American manicure if you want a look that is more toned-down and simple.

American manicures are different when compared to French manicures. French manicures are a bit loud when it comes to the bright white tips. American manicures use light shades of pink and colors that bear a soft and neutral look, they are finished with opaque white to paint the tip of the nails. In an American manicure the tips are painted first and then the neutral or pale pink color is painted on the top. An American manicure bears a softer and a more glamorous look.

You could try an American manicure at a nail saloon, spa or even do it at home without any professional help. An American manicure will range somewhere between $10 and $30 depending on what you want to do - you could either paint the tips or do without painting them. American manicures not only give you beautiful nails but also give you a professional hand massage that makes you feel wonderful.

American manicure kits are available at retail beauty outlets, drug stores and department stores if you intend doing it at home. The items in these kits are reputed and may be used time and again. By purchasing tools for an American manicure from a beauty retail outlet, you will get tools that are used by professional salons and spas. The following are a part of an American manicure kit: cotton balls, non-acetone polish remover, clippers, nail file, nail scissors, pale pink, beige or neutral polish color, opaque or soft white polish. You will also require manicure adhesive strips or stencils that will help paint your white tips and lastly you will need a clear top coat that protects your manicure and prevents it from chipping.

Begin your American manicure by cleaning your nails and removing any previous nail polish. Use your nail scissors and remove hangnails and clip your nails to the desired length and file them to the desired shape. Apply a thin coat of the base color and let it dry for a while. Using adhesive strips or the stencil, paint the tips white. Remove the strips or stencils only after the tips have dried thoroughly. Paint a final coat of clear polish and then allow your nail to dry. Your American manicure is complete. You could either choose to get an American manicure done by some one professional or do it yourself at home, its simple and makes your nails look beautiful giving them a simple and soft look.
