Some Manicure Tips
Today people are more conscious about their appearance and their looks. Manicures are very common these days and though men have manicures on a regular basis they are more common among women. The nail salons are packed with people for manicures, starting with mother-daughter duos, ladies who have to attend a wedding party or other social gatherings and to those who just want to pamper themselves with a manicure.
If you do not have the money and time to visit these regular salons for a manicure and yet want your nails to look good then here are a few excellent tips that will help you do your own manicure at home.
The first thing that you need to do before you begin a manicure at home is to do it when your kids are at school or off to bed. This will only help your polish dry without having to do any chores for them in between. Use your favorite scrub - choose the brand that you enjoy using most. Most of them exfoliate well and have essential oils in them, these oils keep your skin soft for hours even after you have washed them a couple of times. The essential oils present in these scrubs moisturize both the hands and the cuticles. After you have done this you really dont have to soak your hands in water. The oils have already made your cuticles soft and its time to just push them back with an orange stick or a cuticle pusher. You could also use your fingernail to do so.
Just in case you could spare a little more time then you can shape your nails to the desired shape, for this you would require a little more practice. The best way to do this is to rub the emery board on your nail in one particular direction and not back and forth. Rubbing it back and forth damages the nails. You could file your nails as and when you find time. Sometimes when youre in a hurry, you may not bother to do it the right way but thats all right once in a while. This happens even in the beauty salons occasionally.
When you are giving yourself a manicure at home the final step is to apply nail polish. Apply nail polish in thin and even coats, this will enable it to dry faster. Apply it in three brush strokes, one stroke down the middle of the nail and one on either side of your nail. Choose a good polish that will keep your nails healthy and that will not chip off easily.
